Andre Iguodala reportedly still hasn’t made up his mind.

According to Shams Charania and Anthony Slater of The Athletic, “there’s still no firm indication” from the veteran regarding whether he will return to the Golden State Warriors in 2022-23 or retire.

While Golden State is somewhat in limbo until he makes a decision with 13 players under guaranteed contracts and either one or two open roster spots depending on if he returns, Charania and Slater reported the team has “an open invitation” for Iguodala should he choose to play.

What’s more, the Warriors may just leave that final roster spot open heading into the season to save money on the impending luxury tax they will face.

Iguodala, who turns 39 years old in January, played 31 games last season. He also appeared in only 21 during the 2019-20 season as a member of the Miami Heat.

Still, he provides veteran leadership, solid defense off the bench and a proven track record to turn toward come playoff time. He will also forever be a Warriors legend considering he took home the 2015 NBA Finals MVP in large part because of his defense on LeBron James.

Iguodala has been in the league since the 2004-05 season and has suited up for the Philadelphia 76ers, Denver Nuggets, Warriors and Heat.

At his best, the 6’6″ wing was a two-way playmaker who averaged as many as 19.9 points per game in a season while frequently defending the opponent’s best player. He is no longer that version of himself and averaged 4.0 points, 3.7 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 0.9 steals per game last season for the Warriors.

While his decision won’t make or break Golden State’s chances at defending its title, he could still provide important depth over the course of a long season.
