The Constitutional Court overturned a High Court ruling which put the brakes on the controversial Administrative Adjudication of Road Traffic Offences Act (Aarto) regulations. In a judgment delivered on Wednesday, the apex court found that Aarto is constitutional, and that it could be passed as law.
Law enforcement officials have identified at least 12 people of interest in connection with the recent spate of truck attacks, according to Police Minister Bheki Cele. Cele said intelligence suggests that the attacks were business-related and not just random acts of criminality.
Springbok teammates Faf de Klerk and Malcolm Marx have paid tribute to veteran Frans Steyn, who announced his retirement from professional rugby on Tuesday. A knee injury forced the Springbok great to give up on ambitions of a fourth World Cup appearance in France later this year.
