As the 2023 Monster Energy Supercross tour made its annual stop at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana the crowd was prepared to see another Tomac-Sexton-Webb showdown. That’s not what happened. Ken Roczen proved that he still can answer the call. After an excellent heat race that saw him racing with the likes of Cooper Webb and Justin Barcia, he seemed to find a new gear in the main event. He led every lap, surviving challenges from Cooper Webb, Sexton and ultimately Justin Barcia. As for title hopefuls Eli Tomac and Sexton, they both had off nights. Sexton fell while pushing Roczen for the lead, and Tomac was mired in the middle of the pack all night. Webb managed to finish 3rd, and that was enough to give him the red plate by a single point. As for the 250 East riders, they were forced to watch Hunter Lawrence capture what was perhaps his easiest flat-to-flag win yet.
