A COACH driver allegedly fell asleep and veered into barriers during an airport pick up that left terrified passengers screaming.
Customers stopped the driver from continuing his journey on the National Express service from Gatwick airport to Bournemouth.
Marketing specialist Omar Reyes, 26, said a passenger shouted to the driver that he had missed his stop.
Omar said: “There was no answer, the bus started moving to the left side and collided with barriers.
“I screamed to the driver ‘stop the bus, man!’ then he kind of woke up and veered to the right and then back to the left side, hitting road signs.
“The driver then stopped the bus and we were all going crazy. We were all in shock.”
One of the other four passengers on the coach called the police, reports The Mirror.
National Express are now probing the incident at Winchester, Hants.
The company said police were called to the incident, but no injuries were reported
A company spokesman said: “No injuries were reported and all passengers were provided with onward travel.
“Police did attend but there has been no further involvement.”
